Google isn’t waiting for a settlement — the 30 percent Android app store fee is dead

Google has eliminated the 30 percent fee it previously charged developers for transactions through its Android app store. The company also announced that it will permit third-party app stores to operate on Android, opening the platform to alternative distribution channels for apps.
