Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, BlackRock, Coinbase and more than 140 other firms have launched a new global stablecoin called Open USD. The token is designed to share earnings generated from its reserve assets, and its creators say it is intended to compete directly with existing stablecoins such as Circle’s offering.
