Unauthorized alert sent to cell phones across Brazil

Hackers breached Brazil’s national emergency alert system and transmitted an unauthorized message that read “misanthropy” to millions of mobile phones across several states. In response, authorities shut down the National Civil Defense warning platform to stop further alerts while investigating the intrusion. The incident affected cell-phone users throughout the country.
