West Virginia’s attorney general has filed a lawsuit against Apple, alleging the company violated consumer-protection laws and was negligent by allowing child sexual abuse material to proliferate on its iCloud service. The complaint says Apple’s end-to-end encryption and its refusal to employ detection tools such as PhotoDNA prevented the detection and removal of such content.
