Is a 256GB SSD better than a 1TB hard drive? It depends how you're using it

A 256 GB SSD is generally the superior system drive because its flash-memory architecture delivers dramatically faster boot, app-load, and overall responsiveness than a 1 TB HDD, which relies on slower spinning platters. However, the HDD offers roughly 3.9 × more capacity at lower cost per gigabyte, making it preferable for large game libraries, media collections, or backups where storage volume outweighs speed.
