9000 RPM is faster than your screen refreshes

A modern sports-car engine can reach 9,000 RPM, equivalent to 150 revolutions per second, which exceeds the refresh rate of typical laptop displays. An interactive animation illustrates four engine configurations—inline-4, 60° V6, boxer-6 and flat-plane V8—showing crankshaft geometry and firing order, with each full turn becoming a blur at 60 fps but viewable at slowed-down speeds.
