Activision is taking over Halo as part of a massive Xbox shake-up

Microsoft announced a major Xbox studio restructuring that will transfer the Halo, Sea of Thieves, and Age of Empires franchises to Activision. The reorganization includes layoffs of approximately 268 Xbox employees and the probable closure of Ninja Theory. Halo Studios will continue supporting Halo Infinite and Halo: Campaign Evolved, but future flagship Halo titles will be produced by Activision.
