Addressing a sticking point in sustainable adhesives

Silvis Materials’ biodegradable cellulose adhesive replaces petroleum-based glues, enabling recycling of containers whose labels previously prevented processing. Developed from modified plant cellulose and nanocellulose-inspired formulations, the adhesive can be produced from virtually any cellulose source. The company claims it can cut production emissions by up to 80% and halve the energy required compared with fossil-based adhesives.
