Africa's Wild Dogs Are the Most Hated Carnivores on the Continent
The Endangered Wildlife Trust’s African wild dog range expansion program, launched in 1997, has added over 344 individuals to the global population, moving packs from Mozambique to South African reserves to create genetically diverse groups. Human-related causes, including direct killing and disease from domestic dogs, account for 44% of wild-dog deaths, while their 80% hunting success fuels conflict with livestock owners and game-reserve operators.
