AI agents are getting wallets: the Web3 infrastructure behind the machine economy

Cloudflare launched Wallets on August 4 2026, giving AI agents on its network a stablecoin balance, readable identity, and delegated authority to spend within preset merchant lists, allowances, and transaction caps. The system pairs with Cloudflare’s API-charging service, creating a machine-to-machine marketplace that leverages the x402 payment rail, which has processed over 160 million micropayments totaling $41.2 million across seven chains.
