AI data centres are taking the capacitors carmakers need

Chinese carmakers report a global shortage of 20-30% in printed circuit boards and multilayer ceramic capacitors, with prices tripling in the past year due to AI data-centre demand. Automotive-grade memory has risen about 180% in three months as AI servers consume over 80% of advanced-node capacity. Manufacturers such as Geely, BYD and GM are raising prices or cutting discounts, and officials say expanding supply for AI infrastructure and automotive production will require at least one year.
