Alibaba says its new Zhenwu V900 is China’s most powerful AI chip

Alibaba announced the Zhenwu V900, a T-Head AI chip with 216 GB memory, 1,200 GB/s inter-chip bandwidth, native FP32-to-FP4 support, and a single cluster can host up to 500,000 chips. The chip delivers three times the performance of the M890. Alibaba plans to ship 560,000–650,000 units to over 400 customers, launch the V900 in Q1 2027, and build 20 GW of data-centre capacity by 2032 while training 10-trillion-parameter Qwen 5 models. The company has invested more than $53 bn over three years and raised $10.2 bn in a share sale to fund this expansion.
