Allegations of US interference in Quebec election

The Defense Analyses and Research Corporation allegedly published essays encouraging Americans to destabilize Canada and support Quebec’s Parti Québécois. Christine Fréchette met Prime Minister Mark Carney and contacted CSIS after the allegations surfaced. Her office confirmed U.S. officials approached the CAQ about CUSMA sectors. The CAQ received no evidence of election interference. Parti Québécois leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon disputed the timing and evidence, noting the information had been available since January.
