Anthropic and OpenAI ask Australia to ease its ban on AI training with local content

Anthropic and OpenAI submitted requests to Australian lawmakers to lift restrictions that prevent them from training AI models on the country’s creative content. Their submissions were made to a parliamentary inquiry into AI legislation. In October 2025, the government announced it would not add a text-and-data-mining exception to its laws.
