Anthropic automatically signs out Claude users to protect them from hackers

Anthropic forced sign-outs of Claude accounts after infostealer malware on Windows and macOS PCs harvested active session cookies, allowing attackers to exhaust usage limits and incur unauthorized charges. The company removed saved payment cards, refunded the fraudulent usage, and advised users to eradicate the malware, reset passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and only then re-add payment methods.
