Anthropic reported that Chinese firms Moonshot and DeepSeek operated “transfer stations” outside China, using thousands of fake accounts and millions of real user queries to distill Claude’s capabilities. The company also disclosed disrupting multiple misuse attempts—including cyber-attacks, influence campaigns, surveillance, and a project involving potential biological-weapon research—prompting it to shut down the work.
