Apollo Atomics wants to make nuclear power cheaper by shrinking an overlooked part

Apollo Atomics has redesigned the steam generator—the largest component of a nuclear plant—into a compact, mass-manufacturable unit roughly the size of a person, enabling a reactor 40 times smaller than conventional designs. Leveraging MIT research, the company built a 40 kW prototype and aims to deliver 10-300 MW plants at 3 ¢/kWh, with a 2028 commercial launch backed by a $26 million seed round.
