Apollo finds AI is hitting paychecks rather than payrolls

Apollo’s analysis of 321 occupations using the Anthropic Economic Index shows wages in jobs highly exposed to AI grew 6.7% slower after 2023, creating a 10.7% pay gap in the lowest-paid quartile while employment effects were statistically insignificant. The gap narrows in higher wage quartiles and disappears in the top quartile, and the study notes limited coverage and reliance on a single company’s AI usage data.
