Apple faces a £2bn UK claim over App Tracking Transparency, brought by a former CMA official

Apple faces a £2 billion claim in the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal alleging that its App Tracking Transparency policy forces third-party developers to obtain user consent for cross-app tracking while Apple’s own advertising arm collects comparable data without such consent. The case, brought by former CMA senior official Ann Pope, seeks to remedy alleged losses to British developers and to ensure “fair” rules, with certification and loss-calculation methods still to be contested.
