Apple has a new way prove your iPhone photos aren’t AI slop
Apple introduced Apple Reference Image, which captures signed sensor data on the iPhone 18 Pro and converts it via Private Cloud Compute into an immutable “digital negative” viewable in Photos, allowing verification of a photo’s authenticity and detection of edits. The iPhone 18 Pro also adds a 48-MP main camera with a variable aperture driven by six laser-cut polymer blades, a new rotor mechanism, and a custom lens to improve low-light performance.
