Apple hit with a $5.7 billion verdict for alleged patent infringement

A federal jury awarded Taction more than $5.7 billion for infringing two patents on Apple’s Taptic Engine used in iPhones and Apple Watches. Apple plans to appeal the verdict, arguing it did not intend to infringe. The award would surpass the $3 billion Intel case and follows earlier disputes over haptic technology with Immersion and Masimo.
