Apple Watch’s new AI features are normalizing the idea that technology is always listening

Apple Watch introduces “Audio Intelligence,” “Live Rewind,” and “Siri Recap,” enabling on-device processing of live sounds, alerts for sirens or alarms, and transcription of the previous 15 seconds of conversation into a separate Siri app. The alerts function independently of an iPhone, while the stored text transcripts raise consent, legal and privacy issues.
