Apple's iPhone 18 Pro camera innovations went well beyond megapixels and AI

Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max feature a variable-aperture system with laser-cut blades shifting among f/1.48, f/1.8, f/2.8 and f/4.0, allowing finer exposure, lower ISO in dim light, and adjustable depth of field. They add persistent subject tracking, expanded Pro controls (white-balance, histogram), new Photographic Styles with texture and grain, post-capture Cinematic effects up to 60 fps, and a signed “Reference” mode that creates an immutable digital negative for authenticity verification. All three rear cameras retain 48 MP sensors (Main, Ultra-Wide f/2.2, Telephoto f/2.8).
