Apple's new iPhone and iPad security feature can protect you from scammers

Apple’s iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 add Impersonation Risk Detection, an on-device tool that evaluates real-time interaction patterns, timing, context, and sensor data to assign a risk level—Unknown, Medium, or High—when an app requests a safety check during sensitive actions. The feature flags social-engineering scams that prompt users to grant access, and developers can respond by prompting identity verification, adding a delay, or showing a warning. Users enable it in Settings > Privacy & Security, where they can also view and manage app requests.
