Armed man attacks Ohio governor candidate Amy Acton, several injured

An armed 38-year-old man, identified as Patrick Havas, attempted to assault Ohio gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton at the Canfield Fair on Sept. 6, brandishing a handgun, knife, taser and brass knuckles. He was restrained by Acton’s security, arrested by Mahoning County Sheriff’s deputies, and charged with assault and disorderly conduct after injuring several adults, none seriously. Political leaders from both parties condemned the violence.
