Art and algorithms at Sotheby’s

Kelly Shen, a 2017 MIT graduate, leads Sotheby’s art-intelligence team, creating algorithms that forecast auction prices by analyzing buying trends and artist popularity while ensuring the website can support thousands of simultaneous bidders. She also volunteers with MIT alumni groups, crediting her double major in computer science and mathematics and a favorite mathematics project lab for shaping her communication skills.
