ArXiv receives multiyear commitments to support it as an independent nonprofit

ArXiv has secured $17.2 million in multiyear commitments from the Simons Foundation International, XTX Markets, and Siegel Family Endowment to become an independent nonprofit. The funds will strengthen technical infrastructure, support ongoing operations, and improve services for researchers across physics, mathematics, computer science, biology, finance, statistics, engineering, and economics. The investment enables arXiv to manage AI-generated content, modernize its platform, and enhance governance for long-term sustainability.
