An Australian court has found eHarmony misled users over what its memberships cost

The Federal Court found eHarmony automatically renewed memberships for 12 months at up to five times the original price without prominently disclosing renewal terms, total minimum cost, or mandatory extra charges. It ruled the “free” advertising deceptive because communication required payment, and that the site falsely advertised one-month options and early-cancellation availability. Penalties and consumer redress will be determined in a separate proceeding.
