The average American PC now costs more than $1,000

The average PC sold in the United States surpassed $1,000 in Q2 2026, with sell-in prices up 12% year-on-year and revenue rising 13.1% while shipments increased only 1%. AI-enabled machines accounted for 48.3% of shipments, and high-end units above $1,500 grew 36.8% as low-priced models under $699 fell 6.5%. Apple’s share rose to 29.4% of the consumer segment, while Dell’s shipments dropped 8.8% and HP retained the lead with a 24.4% market share.
