AWS says almost 90% of Amazon’s early AI agent prototypes never shipped

Amazon reports that nearly 90% of its AI agent prototypes built two years ago never reached production, citing five root causes such as wrong problem selection, lack of measurable outcomes, and governance gaps. The company now consolidates agent hosting on Bedrock and AgentCore, and its open-source Kiro framework has attracted 39 000 internal users and 500 external contributors within 30 days of launch.
