A Beginner's Deep Dive Guide to Entra Passkeys
Microsoft Entra supports passkeys in device-bound and synced GA modes, using WebAuthn to generate a phishing-resistant key pair. The private key is kept on the user’s device or encrypted in a sync service; the public key is stored in Entra ID. During login Entra sends a challenge, the authenticator signs it after biometric or PIN verification, and Entra validates the signature to issue an access token.
