Belgian chip researcher held since May over secrets allegedly sent to China

Belgian prosecutors have detained a 52-year-old dual-national who was a senior researcher at the bankrupt gallium-nitride chip maker BelGaN, accusing him of transferring specialized IP to a Chinese company he directed while employed in Belgium. Investigators seized data devices, are searching for a second suspect—believed to be former CEO Alan Zhen Zhou—and are pursuing charges of espionage, criminal-organisation participation, asset misuse and unlawful trade-secret disclosure.
