Benchmark: CadQuery vs. OpenSCAD for agentic CAD work
Six Claude-driven agents modeled three parts in both CadQuery (v2.8.0, Python 3.14) and OpenSCAD (2026.06.12) on an M-series Mac, generating STL files that passed independent mesh validation for watertightness, connectivity and geometry. All parts printed successfully, but CadQuery and OpenSCAD differed in error handling: CadQuery required a custom off-screen renderer and API cheatsheet, while OpenSCAD relied on a CLI render-inspect-fix loop, leading to distinct failure reports despite identical design constraints.
