A Biography of Lee Holloway, the Architect of Cloudflare's Technology (Part 1)

Lee Holloway, a California native raised in Cupertino, began his career at HomeWarehouse.com before studying computer science at UC Santa Cruz, where he met future Cloudflare co-founder Matthew Prince. At Prince’s anti-spam startup, Holloway served as chief software architect, co-creating Project Honey Pot and later shaping the core technologies—such as Anycast and same-IP access—that became foundational to Cloudflare’s rapid growth. His contributions ended when a severe frontotemporal dementia forced his resignation.
