Blue Origin wins NASA contract for telecommunications on Mars

NASA awarded Blue Origin a contract—potentially worth $700 million—to build a Mars Telecommunications Network orbiter that must be delivered by December 31 2028, enabling transmission of science data, imagery, navigation information and mission communications from the planet. The deal follows Blue Origin’s earlier lunar-lander contract and comes despite a May launch-pad explosion that the company expects to repair by the end of 2026.
