Brazil is building two AI supercomputers, one Chinese and one American

Brazil is investing 2.3 bn reais ($444 m) in two AI supercomputers: a 1.3 bn reais ($251 m) system built with Huawei and iFlytek in Rio de Janeiro for large-language-model training, and a 1 bn reais ($193 m) Nvidia-based system in Rio Grande do Norte, expected online by end-2027. The projects aim to keep Brazil independent from a single supplier, using the northeast’s wind and solar capacity to power the Nvidia machine.
