Brazil is defining what a deepfake is, five weeks before it votes

Brazil’s Tribunal Superior Eleitoral is finalising a legal definition of “deepfake” ahead of the October 4 election, aiming to clarify what AI-generated content qualifies as prohibited. The court is also set to adopt broader rules that restrict AI-generated campaign material beyond merely banning deceptive deepfakes.
