BYD says its new solid-state EV battery tech is nearly ready for the open road

BYD plans to launch its first vehicle equipped with sulfide-based solid-state batteries in 2027, targeting mass production by 2030. These batteries replace liquid electrolytes with solid materials to increase energy density, safety, and temperature resistance. The company intends to reserve this technology for high-end models while continuing to utilize traditional lithium iron phosphate batteries.
