California governor vetoes bill banning use of ‘pervert glasses’ to secretly record people
California Governor Gavin Newsom vetoed Senate Bill 1130, which would have prohibited secretly recording people with wearable devices such as smart glasses. The bill defined wearable recording devices too broadly, potentially causing confusion, and duplicated existing privacy protections. If enacted, violators could face fines or prison, and non-compliant manufacturers would also be fined.
