California’s new tyre standard is stricter than Europe’s, which has had one since 2012

California’s Energy Commission unanimously adopted the nation’s first efficiency standard for replacement tires, setting a maximum rolling-resistance limit that takes effect in 2029 and becomes stricter in 2033. Europe has required a less stringent ceiling since 2012 and has labeled tires for efficiency from that year onward.
