Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
Canada will impose reciprocal tariffs on U.S. goods “dollar for dollar” after trade negotiations collapsed, triggering a fresh wave of U.S. duties on Canadian products. The new U.S. tariffs, levied under the 1930 Tariff Act, target about 5% of Canadian exports—including wine, dairy, cement, clothing and hockey equipment—adding to existing duties on steel, aluminium, autos and lumber.
