The Census Bureau Is Overrun With Staffers From a MAGA Think Tank

The Census Bureau has deployed at least seven staffers from the America First Policy Institute, a Trump-aligned think tank, through the Intergovernmental Personnel Act. These AFPI members contributed to an anonymously authored 2024 report claiming thousands of noncitizens voted in the 2020 election, a study that WIRED found relied on flawed methodology. The influx of AFPI personnel has raised concerns that Census data could be used to undermine confidence in upcoming elections.
