ChatGPT becomes the first AI chatbot designated under the DSA

The European Commission has designated ChatGPT as a Very Large Online Search Engine under the Digital Services Act, joining Reddit and Roblox as Very Large Online Platforms. With 159 million monthly EU users, OpenAI must conduct annual systemic-risk assessments, submit to independent audits, and provide regulator access to data, facing potential fines up to 6% of global turnover. The rule-making deadline is the end of November.
