Chess.com Leak Exposes 7.3M Users, Evidence Points to Scraping
A 15.5 GB tab-separated file containing 7,337,395 chess.com user records was posted on data-leak forums, including email addresses, usernames, real names, country, chess ratings, subscription tiers, and Google Ad Manager audience tags. The data was collected over nine consecutive days in daily batches, with 7.4% of accounts appearing twice, indicating a scheduled scraping operation rather than a single database dump. No passwords, password hashes, or payment information were present, and the UUID timestamps matched registration dates with 100% accuracy.
