China reportedly may let Alibaba and ByteDance buy new Nvidia chips

China’s government may approve purchases of Nvidia’s new RTX Pro 5500 workstation graphics card by Alibaba and ByteDance, according to sources. The RTX Pro 5500, built on Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture, features 84 GB of memory. Nvidia’s sales in China have been restricted by U.S. export controls and Beijing’s support for domestic chipmakers.
