Cinemas, schools and ICE are all banning Meta smart glasses

Cinemas, U.S. school districts, ICE, a hacker conference, NBA arenas and a UK pub chain have all instituted policies prohibiting or restricting Meta’s $359 smart glasses because of film-piracy, privacy and harassment concerns. The UK Cinema Association’s rule, originally written for Google Glass in 2014, remains unchanged and applies to any camera-enabled eyewear, while several American districts have issued explicit bans after videos of students using the glasses to harass peers surfaced online.
