Cities terminate Flock contracts at record pace in August

A Bay Area anti-surveillance group reports that 214 U.S. cities and counties have terminated contracts with Flock Safety since 2021, citing out-of-control surveillance, unwanted data sharing, high costs, and police abuse of the tool. Ninety of those terminations occurred in August 2026, a fourfold jump from July. The trend shows accelerating withdrawals across communities from Lansing, Michigan, to Pflugerville, Texas.
