Claude Code Teaching macOS to Natively Print to the HP Laser 1008a
The author reverse-engineered the SPL3 raster language used by the HP Laser 1008a and built a driver that runs HP’s original codec inside a lightweight Linux container, allowing macOS to print directly to the printer. The implementation was developed in a single four-hour session and works without any third-party printing software.
