The County Prosecutors Who Became ICE Informants

Prosecutors in one-sixth of Illinois counties sent detailed personal data—including birth dates, home addresses, photos, and court schedules—to ICE agents, enabling arrests without warrants, as revealed by over 5,000 pages of emails and court records. The collaboration, documented across party lines and often without defendants’ knowledge, contravenes the 2017 TRUST Act’s intent to keep local law enforcement out of federal deportation efforts.
