Custom home server built from spare parts
The author converted a Zotac MAGNUS EN1070K into a storage server. A custom glass-filled ABS enclosure, ASM1166 M.2 adapter, and Pico PSU enable six 8 TB WD Red Plus drives in a RAIDZ2 pool, providing 29 TB usable space. The system uses 32 GB DDR4 RAM, a 1 TB boot SSD, and a Wi-Fi card. The pool is encrypted with a key server, allowing automatic resilvering after a drive failure. Power consumption is about 125 W during spin-up, and the unit weighs 8.5 kg.
